How Many Times Have You Heard...

"What's Your Skin Type?"

There are many different “skin types” out there. Quite often, skin types are referred to as skin conditions. So in answer to the question, what skin type do you have, we might respond, dry skin or oily skin etc. Just as there are some foundational elements to the health of your body, so too are there foundational elements to the health of your skin health.

Very different problems with our skin can often stem from the same underlying issue. What may seem to be in opposition may have a single solution. Let me give you an example…

If one person has dry, flaky skin and another oily skin with breakouts, we assume these need two entirely different solutions. And it’s fairly logical to think this… on the surface.

However, there is more at play than logic when it comes to the intelligence of nature, as well as its breakdown.

If the outer barrier of the skin (known as the Acid Mantle) has been continuously eroded through harsh treatments such as Microdermabrasion, acid peels, excessive usage of soap (which is highly alkaline and over time will disrupt the pH of the skin), preservative laden skin creams and a whole host of other things, this problem can appear as a number of symptoms.

One of the roles of this outer layer is to maintain skin hydration. When its integrity is compromised, it is far less equipped to do this. So then evaporation occurs and the skin becomes dehydrated.

This underlying state of dehydration is a symptom of the problem we have with our Acid Mantle. And rubbing in bucket loads of “moisturizing” cream isn’t going to solve it. It’s like having a leaking bucket and continually filling it up with water. You’re dealing with a symptom. What you need to be doing is stopping the leak.

From the underlying issue of skin dehydration come a whole host of other skin problems. The proper balanced ecology of your skin is critical. When your Acid Mantle is compromised, the healthy bacteria that populate it don’t have a suitable home and no longer live there in proper proportions.

So your skin becomes vulnerable to other bacteria, which leads to breakouts, redness and infections.

Your friendly skin health army is weak and your barrier has holes, leaving it vulnerable. So then more oil comes to the surface to aid and help stop the dehydration and to heal the Acid Mantle.

All this comes from the one cause: the breakdown of the proper balance and ecology that makes up the skin, particularly the Acid Mantle. It’s almost always stemming as a secondary effect of dehydration which is caused by the skin not being able to effectively protect itself from the outside world and hold its own hydration.

So regardless of your skin type, what you need is essentially the same inherent solution. And that solution needs to be focused on repairing the cause, not treating a symptom.

I have to say, that I am incredibly impressed with the skincare. I'm not sure if I'm imagining things, but there is a definite 'polish' to my skin already; dare I say 'glow'? My skin feels incredibly clean and without a hint of tightness.

Samantha W. VIC

When I was asked to write a testimonial, I didn’t know where to start. I love this range of skincare and the only way I can describe it is that it really is the end of searching for something that will finally work.
